2011 Invitational Cary City Meet

Saturday, July 16th (rain date July 17th)

Cary Swim Club (near Cary High School)

• Ages 6-10 swim in the morning sessions
• Ages 11-18 swim in the afternoon session
• Cost per swimmer: 6&U are $6/pp, all others 7yrs & up are $13/pp (fees will b charged to your MDCC account)
• DEADLINE to sign-up is: July 1st (no refunds after the deadline)

Unlike regular season meets where swimmers are scratched if they are not participating, participation in the Cary City meet is by registrations.  Sign-ups are on the MacDolphin website using a similar process as when scratching but instead you will register (choose the “Register” option).  You can also register by sending an e-mail to register@macdolphins.org.  If you have any questions, please contact Coach Craig at practice or via email at crobinson1@gmail.com.

The MacDolphins had a great showing from the small number of swimmers who participated.  The MacDolphins finished 15th out of 25 teams scoring 252 points.  Congratulations to Ashling Murphy who won the 9-10 girls Breaststroke event and finished 2nd in the 9-10 individual points.

The results are available in two formats.  The traditional MacDolphins results report and a overall CCM summary which has been annotated to highlight the MacDolphins results.

Congratulations MacDolphins for your 264-247 win over The Reserve Stingrays last Thursday night!  Coach Amy said she had never seen such a great performance out of a group of swimmers at a first meet … and the weather was perfect!  But the best part was the terrific feedback we received from the The Reserve.  They couldn’t say enough about our hospitality and our nice volunteers.  Thank you to everyone for making our first home meet such a great success!

Home Meet this Tuesday versus Devereaux Devil Rays

Don’t forget to scratch if you are not going to be at the swim meet.  Now the process is even easier!  In addition to scratching via the website and/or sending an email to scratch@macdolphins.org, you can now send a text message to 919-410-MDCC (919-410-6322)!  You will receive a confirmation text message in return that your scratch was received.  What could be easier?

Team Photo The team photo will be taken this week before the  swim meet. All Star Photos, the same photographer as last year, will be taking individual swimmer photos beginning at 3:30 p.m.  They will take the team photo at 4:45 p.m.  Take a look at the order form and products that are available (by clicking on the links).  Cash, Checks, and credit cards accepted.

• To have individual photo taken, arrive:  3:30 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. (individual photo is optional, but arrive early … this will end at 4:30)
• Everyone Arrive:  4:30 p.m.
• Team photo:  4:45 p.m.
• Warm-ups begin: 5:00 p.m.
• Swim meet starts:  6:00 p.m.

Pasta Pump Up!

All 13&Up swimmers are invited to gather at the Wagner’s (104 Martinique Place, MacGregor West) after Monday’s practice to load up on carbs in preparation for the big meet.  Swimmers should bring their swimsuit and a towel so they can cool off in the pool after dinner!!!  Please let Cindy Wagner know if your swimmer plans to attend.  Also, keep your eye out for future pasta dinners (click on swim team calendar).

Swim For a Cause

Cary City Meet

The deadline for registering for the July 17th Cary City Meet is next week!  Our goal is to have at least one relay team in each gender/age group.  This is a fun swim meet!  Please register now!  You will be glad you did.  Click here to for more detailed information about the Cary City Meet.

This is one speeding ticket you’ll love your child to get …

Place ribbons, swimmer’s times, and a little treat will be placed into the swimmer’s folders this week.  In addition, every time your child improves his time in a particular stroke, he will receive a speeding ticket in his folder.  Three (3) speeding tickets can be redeemed for one “Fla-vor-ice” freezer pop at the snack bar.  Rev-em-up, MacDolphins!

The crates of folders marked with swimmer’s names will be placed outside of the guard house.  Encourage your children to check their folders.

Parents, we need your help …

With so many parents busy volunteering during a swim meet, we need all parents to help monitor the kids when they are not swimming.  Please, if you see kids starting to get a little too rowdy, step in and diffuse the situation.  Lets encourage our kids to respect others at all times.  This includes cleaning up after themselves, too.  Thanks!

WAVE Swim Clinic

On Thursday, July 1^st, Jeff Pishko, from Wave Swim Club will be at MacDolphins swim practice from 4:30-6:00 p.m. to conduct a free breaststroke clinic for our 7-8 and 9-10 swimmers.  This is one practice they won’t want to miss!

The 2010 Cary City Meet will be held on Saturday, July 17th at Scottish Hills Swim Club.  Scottish Hills is located near the intersection of Cary Parkway and Lake Pine, very close to MDCC.  The Cary City Meet (CCM) is handled differently from regular Tuesday night meets.  For all meets except CCM, swimmers are assumed to be participating unless they are scratched from the meet.  For CCM, swimmers must explicitly register to participate.

All MacDolphins are encouraged to participate!

CCM is a fun day and great chance to swim against swimmers and teams the MacDolphins never compete against.

Fees

There is a $10 fee per MacDolphin to participate in CCM which helps swim team cover the costs of registration and snacks.  The fee is billed to your MDCC account.

Registration

The CCM registration process is essentially the same as the process used to scratch from a swim meet but instead of scratching, you register.  Detailed step by step instructions can be found on the CCM Registration page.   The alternative (easy?) way is to simply send an e-mail to carycitymeet@macdolphins.org!
