The MacDolphins swim team kick-off is scheduled for Friday, May 18th at 6:00 PM. Meet the coaches, buy spirit wear, register, sign up for volunteering and purchase swim suits (check or cash is needed for suit purchases). The grill and a bar will be open and the kids can swim. There will be a short parent orientation scheduled at 7:00 PM in the St. Andrew’s room.

Please bring your swimmers and join us for a fun night to Kick Off the MacDolphins 2012 Season!

Swim Team Kick-Off, 6 & Under Evaluations & Need for Starter and S&T Judges

The MacDolphins swim team kick-off is scheduled for Friday, May 18th at 6:00 PM. Meet the coaches, buy spirit wear, register, sign up for volunteering and purchase swim suits (check or cash is needed for suit purchases). The club will have a buffet and bar and the kids can swim. There will be a short parent orientation scheduled at 7:00 PM in the St. Andrew’s room.

Coaches will evaluate 6 & Under swimmers on Saturday, May 19th at 9:00 AM and on Monday, May 21st at 4:15 PM.

Swim team needs volunteers to serve as starter and stroke and turn judge. Silverton is hosting a Starter Clinic on Saturday, June 2nd. The clinic begins at 9:00 AM and lasts approximately one hour. There is an online certification course for S&T judges. We have two parents who have already committed to the position and we would like to recruit 1-2 more. Inadvertent Job Withdrawl E-mail Messages

Yesterday (4/22) the software which powers the swim team portion of the MacDolphins web site was updated. Unfortunately that update had a bug which resulted in a large number of incorrect Job Withdrawl e-mails being sent out. The e-mails were particularly confusing because many of them were for jobs from prior seasons. The bug has been fixed, the software updated, and things appear working as expected.

Our Volunteer Coordinators have gone back through the previous job sign ups as well as those which were signed up for at the Kids Kickoff yesterday. If you’d like to check the status of your 2012 job assignments, you can always check it by logging into the MacDolphins web site and from the Swim Team Dashboard Menu choose “My Jobs”. It will show your current job assignments plus those from prior seasons.

If you see anything wrong with the 2012 jobs please drop an e-mail to the Volunteer Coordinators.

MDCC Kids Kickoff is today!

The MacGregor Downs Kids Kickoff is today from 3:00 – 6:00 in the Lake Side Dining Room in the Main Club House. Swim Team will be located in the Glen Eagles Room. It is a rainy day so come down to the club and sign up for swim team (which you can also do online), meet the coaches, try on and order your new 2012 team suit, order spirit wear, sign up for volunteer positions, and much more!

Stroke and Turn Certification

StrokeAndTurn.com is available online now. TSA stroke and turn judges can become certified by completing the online course and test. This course is offered completely online and may be taken at a user’s convenience, including stopping at any point and resuming later, repeating sections, etc. Certification takes about two hours to complete, including post-training exam. Training and exam both use video clips extensively. An exam grade of 80 percent or better is required to pass. The user must pay $12.95 fee to take course; each team can decide on its own whether to reimburse judges who use this.

The course is based on USA Swimming rules, so there are only a few minor differences from TSA. This is an alternative option for certification and is not required. TSA will still offer traditional (free) S&T clinics which will be announced soon. Also, S&T Judge certifications from USA Swimming, NCAA, NCHSAA or. YMCA are still accepted by TSA; send name, team, certification body, certification number and certification expiration date to strokeandturn.tsanc.org@gmail.com
