Hey MacDolphins!
Thank you so much for a successful second week! The storms last Friday and Memorial Weekend have made the past couple of weeks short ones, but we have succeeded in introducing all the strokes to each of the ages groups. This past week we focused more on backstroke and butterfly, while continuing to review breast and free. Coach Raz, the Age Group Head Coach of RSA, came down on Thursday do teach the 7 & Ups the finer points on backstroke. The kids improved greatly in just the short time he was with us, and I’m looking forward to when he comes back down in a couple of weeks.
Next Tuesday is Time Trials so be sure to scratch if your child cannot make it. For newer parents, this is just a mock meet so the swimmers can get used to the set up and have some base times for the first meet. It’s a great way to build up team spirit and it gives the swimmers a chance use everything they have learned in the past couple of weeks. This summer we are re-introducing the Big Fish, Little Fish program. An 11 & Up has been assigned a younger swimmer to cheer for and support during the meets. All they have to do is cheer for them and get them pumped up to swim. The younger kids really look up to the older swimmers and it can make a big difference in their swimming experience. If for some reason your child has not been assigned a swimmer, please just email me. I’ve included my contact information at the bottom of this message.
Again, if you have not yet purchased a cap or goggles for your swimmer, I would highly recommend doing so. They make practice and meets a lot easier. If you have any questions/concerns feel free to find me at practice or email me!
Have a great weekend!
Coach Elyse
