This past season the MacDolphins moved out of the dark ages and introduced technology (web site, Swim Team Management software, etc.) to help run the swim team more efficiently. We learned a lot and tried some things which worked well and some others which didn’t.
Those of you who were at the banquet last night heard the announcement that the MacDolphins have started raising funds to acquire a wireless timing system for the 2009 season. While this system will make many jobs easier (timer, recorder, and timing data entry), it does increase the need in others areas (e.g. running the timing system computer).
We are looking for 2-3 people to volunteer for the MacDolphins Technology Team for the 2009 season. This past season Mike Walsh and Terri Hamrick handled the load but we need help to spread the load and keep the MacDolphins from being in a position where only one person knows how to do something.
In addition to running the timing system, we could use help in developing the templates and generating the weekly Best Time reports the swimmers received in their files (when their times improved). We are looking for people who have skills with Microsoft’s Excel, Word, and Publisher applications as well as people who have an interest in learning to run the timing system.
If you are interested, please contact Mike Walsh for more details. Volunteering for the Technology Team will satisfy your swim team volunteer requirements!
