Coach Bios

MDST is fortunate to have such enthusiatic and qualified coaches to lead the team!  The bios below tell just a little about them…

Coach Amy is currently a special education teacher in the Wake County Public School System. Growing up in Cary, Amy swam summers with Kildaire Farms, year-round with RSA and for Cary High School. Going on to UNC Chapel Hill, Amy continued to swim while earning her bachelor’s in History. She then continued at NCSU and earned her Masters in Education. Amy has enjoyed coaching previously with Regency Park, Kildaire Farm, Apex High School, and Wave Swimming and currently with RSA.

Coach JD has been in and around the water since the age of 7 with summer teams Scottish Hills and Cary Swim Club.  JD swam with RSA and Cary High School.  He was the Tri-Seven conference men’s swimmer of the year two years in a row.  As senior captain JD led the Cary Imps to their first conference and regional titles. JD has participated in leadership activities such as Boy Scouts, Rotary Youth Leadership, and Youth Legislative Assembly.   JD has enjoyed coaching previously with Cary Swim Club and currently with RSA.  He is pursuing his bachelor’s in music education at Appalachian University

Coach Craig has been working deck-side with Coach Amy for 5 years now, and with Coach Kristina for 4 of those.  He started swimming for MacGregor Downs when he was 7 years old, after being taught how to swim as a 6 & under by Coach Amy herself.  He swam for MacGregor for 9 years before going to work at Regency Swim Club as an assistant coach with Amy and Kristina.  In the off-season he attends Greensboro College where he is a member of the Athletic Training Program, and a member of the Football team.

Coach Kristina is very excited to be coaching the MacDolphins this year! She swam with the MacDolphins, and is so glad to be back and a part of the team again. Her other coaching experiences include: coaching, with both Amy and Craig, for the Regency Riptides for three years and also coaching for the Marlins of Raleigh. Coach Kristina loves swimming as she swam year round for nine years, for the MacDolphins for eight years, and at Apex High School for four years.  She just recently graduated from Elon University with a degree in Elementary Education. She plans to stay in Wake County and teach here next year.
